Learn about Guaraní, one of the official languages of the South American country of Paraguay. By the end of the presentation, we will be able to introduce ourselves and talk about our background and interests in Guaraní. Determining if you want a second date, however, is up to you!

We will have presentations of Maya language, culture and music, including video of contemporary rap in Maya language from the Maya Riviera, and IU Music school singers and musicians playing contemporary classical opera in Maya language from Yucatan. We will have a visiting Maya from Yucatan who will be able to authentically speak with students, teachers and parents.

It's tea time! Come explore the history, cultivation, and tradition of drinking yerba mate, a popular tea in Argentina and Chile. You will also be introduced to the use of 'voseo', a way of addressing people in spoken Spanish, in parts of these two South American countries. In addition, you'll be offered an opportunity to taste yerba mate for yourself and practice the spoken variations of 'voseo' and some simple phrases used in Argentina and Chile, too!

A general overview of Spanish theatre across time with practical demonstrations. Dramatic rules and stereotypical roles will be presented, so volunteers will be able to do short improvisations within these constraints with the help of the presenters. Some Spanish will be used and volunteers will be encouraged to add Spanish phrases as well when they feel comfortable. Handouts and props will be provided!

"Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music. We’ll be teaching the attendees a few basic choruses from Capoeira folk/public domain songs, then have them sing with the capoeira group while we play instruments and maybe even play capoeira games."

This presentation aims to introduce the traditional form of Chinese theater, i.e. Peking Opera. Audience will get to know the four major roles and meanings of some basic gestures by watching video clips. In addition, the presenter will show pictures of various masks and explain the character personalities embodied by different colors. Audience will also have the opportunity to draw a face mask on their own.

The presentation provides students with an insight into the culture and tradition of paper-cutting in China. They will learn how to create beautiful paper cut artworks, Chinese characters and patterns, in an enjoyable atmosphere. They will also learn during festivals how Chinese people decorate their houses with paper cuts and what auspicious words Chinese people say to greet people. All students will be guided step by step to create their artwork, experience Chinese culture, and learn basic auspicious words in Chinese.

This activity is designed to teach a Chinese love song to students who have no previous background in Chinese. The aim of the activity is to introduce Chinese language and the importance of "moon" in Chinese culture through a song. At the Share Fair, students are immersed in the environment where the song is introduced. The instructor will then teach the song line by line, followed by an explanation on the metaphor of moon and how it is related to Chinese culture. Let's have fun and sing in Chinese!

Han'gul, the Korean Alphabet, is known for its systematic and linguistically sophisticated design and organization principles. It is so easy and thus an adult can learn it in a very short period of time. We will first show a short video clip that explains its historical background and its organizing principles and philosophy, and then give a short instruction. There will be a hands-on practice to write their name in Han'gul. In a separate session that will follow this session, Korean instructors will make a business card with people's name written in Han'gul.
